Finding a home, and keeping it, involves a lot of paperwork and a lot of phone calls. Our accommodation and tenancy support helps people with disability across Melbourne’s west, from our office in Williams Landing, to find a suitable place to live and to meet the responsibilities of being a tenant.
Finding a home
- Working out what you need in a home: location, accessibility, cost, who you want to live with.
- Searching listings and community housing options together.
- Preparing rental applications and supporting documents.
- Going with you to inspections and meetings with agents or housing providers.
Keeping your home
Once you have moved in, we can help you:
- understand your lease, your rights and your responsibilities as a renter
- set up and keep track of rent, utilities and bills
- report repairs and follow them up
- get along with neighbours and housemates
- deal with notices or letters you are not sure about.
If a problem comes up with a landlord, we can help you get independent advice from a tenancy advocacy service.
Linked supports
Some people move into supported independent living. Others live with family or friends and use shared living support. Many people use life skills development alongside tenancy support to run their home with more confidence.
